She was born in Bonanza, Kentucky to Henry and Rushie (Robinson) Yates on January 11, 1932.
On October 6, 1947 she and Johnie Hurd were married in North Manchester, Indiana.
A member of the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witnesses, she was a jogger for R.R. Donnelley for 10 years.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law: Dannie and Amy Hurd, Warsaw; 2 daughters and a son-in-law: Regina and Don Ervin, Warsaw and Wanda Hurd, Rochester, Indiana; sister: Hazel McFarren of Angola, Indiana; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Johnie Hurd, August 7, 2008; brother: Homer Yates; 2 sisters: Hester Abbott and Ruby Yates.
The funeral service for Lily Mae Hurd will take place Sunday, March 16, 2014 at 4 PM in the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Warsaw. Brother Mike Longenecker will officiate.
