Information supplied by Highlanders Camp #1530 Sons of Confederate Veterans, member Sherman Taylor: Pvt. Thomas A. Adkinson – Company D, “Capt. Dewitt C. Booth’s Company,” 58th Virginia Infantry, which contained many men from Franklin County, Va. He was born about 1834 in Franklin, and enlisted on July 23, 1861, at Camp Hicks in Franklin. He died of disease Feb. 8, 1862,
This Confederate Cemetery is located across the street from the Highland Medical Center on route 220 south. There is only one marked grave (stone placed there in the 1890's) The remaining graves are distinguished by the sunken ground for each grave and can only be seen when the field is mowed.
