Maxwell Dennis McDonald, age 82, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 11, 2013, at his home. Born November 5, 1930, in Harrison County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Benjamin C. and Leona Whitaker McDonald. Dennis was a lifelong farmer with a deep love of the land and gardening and was a longtime softball coach.
Surviving him are: three sons, Richard (Amy) McDonald and Chuck McDonald, both of Carlisle, and Kenneth A. McDonald; five daughters, Shirley M. (Larry) Trussell, Joyce M. (Herb) Booth, Judy M. Purvis and Brenda (Joe) Moseman, all of Carlisle, and Sandy Edwards, of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, Buford McDonald, of Scott County, Kentucky; two sisters, Evalyn Abnee, of Carlisle, and Dora Norvell, of Lexington; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Also preceding him in death were: two brothers, David McDonald and Rodney McDonald; two sisters, Linda Faulconer and Joredda Garrett; and a granddaughter.
A celebration of life will be held from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home.
