Dale was born on May 6th, 1920, on a farm southwest of Newman Grove, Neb., to the late Martin and Hilma (Nelson) Aaberg.

He graduated from Newman Grove High School in 1937, and went on to serve his country in WWII in the Army Air Corps.

He married Marcella Dilley on October 16, 1943, and they were married 60 years at the time of her passing in March of 2004.

Dale began his career at Nebraska Power Company in 1946 and in 1949 transferred to Iowa Power and Light until he retired in 1985.

He then began a second career with Echo Electric where he worked until the year 2011.

Dale was a 50 year Mason with Bluffs Lodge #71, a 50 year member of Saint John Lutheran Church and also a 50 year member of Lakeshore Country Club and the Pitch Club.

Dale H. Aaberg, of Council Bluffs, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Bethany Lutheran Home, Council Bluffs, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, daughter Sherrie Ann Abel; brother, Merle Aaberg; and sister Maxine Spencer.

Dale is survived by his daughters, Tamara Burke (John), of Lincoln, Neb. and Debora Mitchell (Donald), of Council Bluffs; sister-in-law, Gloria A. Smith, of Council Bluffs; and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will begin Tuesday, 5-7 pm, with a Masonic Service at 5 pm at the Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel, 545 Willow Ave., Council Bluffs, Iowa. Funeral service will be 11 am Wednesday, also at the Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel with Pastor Jon Benson officiating. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Saint John Lutheran Church. Memorials to Saint John Lutheran Church.
