Jenny Aaby, 87, of St. Mark's Lutheran Home, Austin, died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at the Austin Medical Center.
She was born March 10, 1913 to Magnus and Clara (Bjerkland) Augustson in Rochester where she went to school and grew up. Jenny graduated from Rochester High School and worked before she married Alvin Aaby April 17, 1938 in Rochester. They lived in Lansing where they owned the general store and operated the post office. Jenny was an organist for 50 years including St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Lansing and at St. John's Lutheran in Sargeant. She loved all music. They moved to Brownsdale and after retirement in 1978, moved to Austin where they joined Faith Lutheran Church where she was very active. Jenny and Alvin traveled extensively, and he passed away March 23, 1987 in Las Vegas, Nev. while winter vacationing. Jenny was well-liked, a neighbor to everyone, often bringing gifts.
She is survived by her son, Clavin, Normal, Ill.; and cousins.
Casket bearers are Elmer Akkerman, William Newell, Kenneth Bjerke, Greg Larson, Dean Johnson, Ray Riley.
Service: 11 a.m. June 19 at Faith Lutheran Church in Austin with Pastor Brad Rod?? of Rochester officiating.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester
Visitation: Friends may call at Worlein Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and at the church one hour before service.
The family prefers memorials to Faith Lutheran Church or Mower County Human Society.
