Mrs. Hughes was born Oct. 4, 1891, in Pleasanton, Kansas, the daughter of Elbert S. and Minnie Baldridge Abbey.
She married Thomas Austin Hughes Feb. 28, 1915, in Bloomington. He died in 1966.
Survivors include four daughters, Hazel Irene Miller of Mount Lake Terrance, WA, Betty Ann Ramsey of Arecola, Shirley Ferhe Anderson of Hlndsboro and .Peggy Jean Johnston of Evansville, WI; one son, W. A. "Bill" Hughes of Heyworth; three brothers, John and George Abbey, both of Kissimmee, FL; and Aubrey Abbey of Palm Springs, CA; 14 grandchild; and one great grandchild.
Mrs. Hughes, a member of the, Normal Methodist Church, had lived in Hlndsboro six months. She was formerly of Normal.
