She was a daughter of John and Anna Jardine Adams. She never married but began working in the local newspaper, the Dillon Examiner, eventually becoming its publisher.

Funeral held for Clara E. Adams
DILLON, June 27 - (Special) Funeral services for Miss Clara E. Adams, prominent Dillon newspaper woman, who passed away Tuesday, were held this afternoon at the St. James Episcopal church. The last rites were largely attended by friends from every section of Southwestern Montana.
The Rev. Harry J. Schmidt of the Presbyterian church read the Episcopal service in the absence of the Rev. H. N. Tragitt form the city.
The pallbearers were W. G. Gilbert, Boss W. Emerick, D. A. Galt, A. I. Cahsmore, George M. Gosman and Homer Faust. Interment was in Mountain View Cemetery.
