Judith Anne Smith Masters, 68 of Aurora Colorado passed away after a brief battle with cancer surrounded by her family on August 1, 2014. Judi was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on September 27, 1945 to Phyllis and Edward Smith. Judi spent her formative years in Bangor, Maine graduating from John Bapst High School in 1963. Judi has three children: Kate, Christine and Sean from a previous marriage before marrying Rex D Masters in October of 1974 [s/b 1973]; together they have one son, Joshua. Judi and her family moved to Colorado in 1976, she attended Pikes Peak Community College where she studied Commercial Art. Judi was dedicated to raising awareness for Rett Syndrome and spent the last decade campaigning for the cause.

Judi is survived by her husband, Rex D Masters of Aurora, Colorado; her mother, Phyllis A Infioriati Smith of Bangor, Maine; one sister, Mary Catherine Karam of Stillwater, Maine; two daughters, Kate and her husband Rick Cornell of Aurora; and Christine E Comer of Aurora; two sons, Sean Comer of Irvine, California; and Joshua Masters and his wife Julie of Aurora; six grandchildren: Justin, Danielle, Mathew, and Ryan Cornell, Erin Garcia, and Caitlyn Masters; two great-grandchildren, three nieces and one nephew, and many close friends.

Judi was preceded in death by her father, Lowell Edward Smith of Bangor, Maine; and two brothers: Michael and Thomas Smith.

Judi's ashes will be laid to rest next to her beloved father and brother in Bangor, Maine in late September of this year.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm on August 19, 2014 at St Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish, located at 19099 E Floyd Avenue, Aurora, Colorado; followed by a short reception for family and friends.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Rocky Mountain Rett Association in memory of Judith Anne Masters at rmrett.org
