Graveside services for Hugh Lee Acuff, Ret. MSgt., USAF, age 88, of Manchester, were conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. MSgt. Acuff passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014 at his home in Manchester, Tennessee.

MSgt. Acuff was born in Coal Creek, Tennessee (now Lake City), the son of the late Lena Lovett of Caryville, Tennessee. He retired from the United States Air Force in 1977 after 26 years of service to our country. His tours of duty included Udorn, Thailand - Okinawa, Japan - and in the Aleutians of Alaska with the Red Horse Squadron in Intelligence/Logistics. Prior to his military enlistment in 1942, MSgt. Acuff worked at the Y-12 Facility in Oak Ridge on the Manhattan Project, where he met Ruby (he gave his seat to her on the crowded bus that the workers rode to-from the work-site). A gentleman and a gentle man forever.

Hugh was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruby Gipson Acuff, who passed away in 2011. He is survived by his daughter, Debra Acuff and his special family members Wendi Lovell and her children, Tays, Kelley, and Madison, all from Manchester, Tennessee. They made his life complete.
