Jennings: Funeral Services for Carol Ann Abel, 64 of Jennings, LA will be held Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Jennings with the Reverend Brian Wells and Reverend Jeff Cook officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Jennings, LA under the direction of Matthews & Son Funeral Home of Jennings. The family requests visiting hours to begin on Friday, October 3, 2014 at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Jennings from 10:00 AM until time of her service. Carol Ann passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at her residence.

Carol Ann was born in Colorado City, TX to the late Jerl and Clara Abel on December 5, 1949. Carol Ann loved to attend church and to be with her church family at the First Baptist Church of Jennings. She loved to knit and crochet as well as read novels. Carol Ann enjoyed listening to Praise and Worship music and Country music. Carol Ann had a special love for her dogs, Carol Ann loved taking them for walks. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by two sisters, Ouida Joy Cormier and husband Michael of Magnolia, TX, Cathy Lynn Abel-Vaughn of Brownwood, TX; one uncle, Richard Allie of Rogers, TX; one aunt, Ann Sweat of Nacogdoches, TX; nephews Marshall Thomas Cormier, Mark Cina; niece, Jessica Lynn Van Cooney; her niece and goddaughter, Michelle Annette Thrasher; four great nephews and one great niece.

Carol Ann is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; three nephews, Jeffery, James, Ronnie; One great-nephew, Shelton.


Carrrying Carol Ann to her final resting place will be Marshall Cormier, Jason Thrasher, Randy Paul Cormier, Donnie Gary, Mark Cina and Jeffery Beatty.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Matthews & Son Funeral Home.
