Obituary – Joseph Addison

One of our best known citizens of Ellis County, and more particularly of Hayes, is the person of Joseph Addison, died at Saint Anthony's hospital, in this city, on January 5th. The Burial Office Was read in St. Michael's church last Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock by the Rev. Father Heigham, O.H.C., Rector of Ellsworth, appropriate music being rendered by a mixed choir. Interment was made in Mount Allen Cemetery where the Committal was said by Father Heigham, and subsequently by the local lodge of Odd Fellows of which the deceased had been a member for the last fifteen years.

Joseph Addison was born in Wherstead, Suffolk, England, in 1871 coming to this country and state when 14 years of age. His disposition was particularly lovable and he soon made many friends all over the county who's affectionate regard he retained until the day of his decease and who will ever esteem him as a true friend. He is survived by five brothers and two sisters, four brothers and one sister residing in England, one sister in Australia and one brother, Higham F. Addison of this city.
