Joseph Paul Abbott, 89, died on Sunday October 26, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Joseph was born on September 15, 1925 in Sheridan, Arkansas. Mr. Joe was the son of the late John S. and Lucy Mitchell Abbott. Mr. Joe is preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Loudermilk, and a sister, Ruby Foster. Mr. Joe is survived by his wife, Carolyn Daniels of the home; one daughter, Peggy McLeod of Candor, NC.; one brother, John Abbott of Mississippi, one step-daughter, Pam Vinson and husband Leslie of Sneads Ferry; four grandsons Cari Carrick of Fountain, Colorado, Andrew Carrick of Valdese NC; Joey Robinson, Peoria, Arizona; Daniel Vinson, Sneads Ferry, NC; two granddaughters; Molly Laurey, Scottsdale, Arizona and Karley Vinson, Sneads Ferry, NC; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Joe was a faithful servant to God as a member of Folkstone Free Will Baptist Church and served his country for twenty-seven years. He served during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge, Lafayette #83of Jacksonville, NC. A funeral Service is planned for Tuesday evening 7:00PM at Folkstone Free Will Baptist Church, visitation to be held from 6-6:50PM with Rev. Cliff Wilson and Rev. Cliff Tomlinson officiating. Burial will follow on Friday Morning 10:00AM October 31, 2014 at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville. Military Honors will be rendered. In lieu of flowers make donations payable to Folkstone FWB Church, Building Fund, 130 Tar Landing Road, Holly Ridge, NC 28445. Electronic condolences may be left for the family at www.jonesfh.org
