Mildred"Millie"Ruth Abbott, 89, passed away at Highland Park Care Center, in Alliance, on Oct. 26, 2014. Millie was born March 24, 1925 to Mary Ann and Rollie Edward Stoner of Cody, Neb.She grew up on a ranch near Cody, NE, and then graduated from Valentine High School. Mildred was united in marriage to the late Leonard "Jack" Abbott in Alliance on June 27, 1946. In her early working years, she taught country school, and then later worked at Safeway in Alliance. Mildred was an active member of several community organizations, including the Alliance Senior Center/Golden Age Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Sallows WWII Museum in Alliance. She was a member of the Alliance Eagles Club and also had been a member of the Holy Rosary Altar Society. Millie and Jack enjoyed traveling, especially spending several winters in Arizona in their camper. Millie loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards with her close friends, gardening, going to garage/estate sales,and watching Nebraska football. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends.She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard "Jack",her parents, and brothers, Lyle Thomas Stoner, Rollie Douglas Stoner, and Harold Dean Stoner.A Rosary will be held on Oct. 30, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Alliance and Mass of Christian Burial will be October 31, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
