Cora Foster Abbott was born July 18,1920 in Caswell County North Carolina to the late Reverend Jerry and Lucy Hinton Foster. She departed this life and was called home on July 10, 2002 at Moses Cone Hospital.

Cora was the fifth of eight children, all of whom preceded her in death. Cora received her high school education at the Caswell County Training School. Cora enjoyed sewing, gardening and reading her Bible. She joined Mineral Springs Baptist Church in Yanceyville, North Carolina. In her later years she attended Ebenezer Baptist Church in Greensboro North Carolina.

Cora married the late Richard C. Abbot, and to this union ten children were born, two of whom preceded her in death, the late Earl Abbott and Blondia Abbott McGhee.

She is survived by four sons, Louis Abbott(Joyce) and Richard Abbott(Annie), both of Durham, North Carolina, Leroy Abbott (Mary) of Sedalia, North Carolina, and Gerald Abbott of Yanceyville, North Carolina,four daughters, Mattie Winstead (Robert) of Greensboro, North Carolina Ineather Farmer (Weldon)of Milton, North Carolina, Barbara Johnson of Asheville, North Carolina,and Truely Cook (Jerry) of McLeansville, North Carolina, and one daughter-in-law Gladys Miles Abbott of Burlington, North Carolina.

Cora is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, six sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
