After a brief courageous battle with cancer, Dennis Lee Adams, 71, Mandan, went to his eternal home, November 6, 2014, with family and friends by his side.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11, at Our Saviour's Ev. Lutheran Church, 1615 N 18th St, Bismarck, with Rev. Ryan Wolfe officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 10, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Committal will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn Cemetery, Steele.

Dennis was born May 12, 1943, in Chicago, IL, to Olmstead Lee and Leah (Aichele) Adams. As a young boy, following his father's service in the Navy, his family moved to the ranch south of Steele. Dennis was baptized into God's family on November 20, 1957, and confirmed on June 14, 1968. Dennis graduated from Steele High School in 1962. He continued his education at Bismarck Junior College and Butler University, Indianapolis, IN, graduating with a B.S. degree in Biology and Education.

Dennis was united in Christian marriage to Sandra Doerr in Tappen on August 3, 1968. He began a career in pharmaceutical sales and after 33 years, retired in 2005 from Merck Human Health.

He had many hobbies, interests and talents and led a very full life, never sitting idol. Some might say he was a renaissance man: inventor, builder, hunter, fisherman, birder, photographer, artist, traveler and pilot. At age 60, he fulfilled his childhood dream of obtaining his pilot's license. He also built his own cedar strip cargo canoe, another dream he brought to fruition.

Dennis had exceptional people skills, a very giving heart and was always willing to help a friend or stranger in need.

Throughout his life, Dennis was active in many community organizations. Most recently he was a member and true contributor of the Civil Air Patrol, EAA, Mandan Airport Authority Board, and the Bismarck Air Museum Foundation Board.

Dennis' faith in God was of primary importance to him and he served on the church councils of both Our Saviour's Ev. Lutheran Church, Bismarck, and Redeemer Lutheran Church, Mandan, where they were currently members.

In his retirement, Dennis and Sandy enjoyed traveling throughout the US and abroad and spending time with their cherished grandchildren.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sandy; his son, Dr. Shaun Adams and wife, Dr. Jessica Magruder, and grandchildren Sophia and Evan; his brother, Olmstead; his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Delores Rath, Rogene and Richard Moss; and his nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be given to Redeemer Lutheran Church Building Fund, Bismarck Air Museum Foundation, or the Wreaths Across America Bismarck Civil Air Patrol.
