Mrs. Dorothy Allene Walters, of Crittenden, KY. passed away Monday, November 24 at her residence at the age of 81. Dorothy was born on July 2, 1933 in Pendleton County, KY. to the late Roy and Ethel McDowell Abercrombie. Dorothy was a true matriarch and loved her family dearly. She cherished the times spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothy enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting and gardening. She was a devoted member of the Violet Ridge Church of Christ where she was active in all the committees and enjoyed singing in the choir.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband: Millard Carl Walters on April 20, 2013; A daughter: Brenda Joyce Miller on May 30, 2002; A son: Larry Dean Walters on October 12, 2004.
Mrs. Walters leaves to mourn her passing a daughter: Margie Pittman of Elizabethtown, KY; 3 sisters: Mildred Bullens of Falmouth, KY., Mary Margaret Mahan of Fairfield, OH. and Kay Webster of Falmouth, KY.; 2 brothers: Tom Abercrombie of Falmouth, KY. and Kenny Abercrombie of Falmouth, KY. Dorothy was blessed with 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Visitation for Dorothy will be held from 5-9pm Friday, November 28 in the chapel of the Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home, Dry Ridge.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Walters will be conducted 11am Saturday, November 29 at the Violet Ridge Church of Christ in Crittenden, KY. with Rev. Dave Shanklin officiating. Burial will follow in the Crittenden Cemetery.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Violet Ridge Church of Christ or St. Elizabeth Hospice.
