ARTHUR HENRY HUETHER was born on the Huether Homestead near Regent, ND on February 25, 1927. He was the eighth child out of eleven children born to Fred and Pauline (Heckenlaible) Huether.

At an early age he began helping his father on the family farm. Art attended Teepee Butte Country School and high school in Mott. He attended college in Wahpeton, ND studying TV & Radio Communication. During these years he enjoyed traveling and sightseeing out west with his buddies.

Following college, Art returned to Regent and began farming with his dad. On December 4, 1949 he was united in marriage to Bernice L. Hirsch at the American Lutheran Church in Mott. To this union was born five children- Burnell, Paulette, Sharon, Mark and David. They lived in Mott for a short time before moving to their farm south of Mott.

In 1956, Art and his family moved to Renton, WA where he worked for Boeing Aircraft. By that spring he was back home doing what he loved – farming. In 1966, they moved back into Mott where they built their new home in 1970.

Over the years, they continued to expand their farming operation, including being one of the first farmers in the area to plant sunflowers. In addition to farming, Art raised cattle from 1952 to 1986. He was very proud of his herd of Red and Black Angus cattle. Dad loved his farm and farming, he took great pride in caring for the land and his livestock.

Art loved to travel to the warmth of the Arizona sun, so he and Bernice wintered there from 1984 to 2000. Dad enjoyed listening to his children and grandchildren sharing about their lives and enjoyed talking with his boys about farming. He enjoyed the beauty of pheasants, fishing and boating on Lake Tschida. He loved to ride his motorcycles, his Odyssey (ATV) to check his crops and driving his full size sedan cars. He also had a collection of toy Farmall tractors. He enjoyed reminiscing about the good old days with his family and friends. He was proud of his German Russian heritage.
