She was born on July 6, 1926 in Buchanan, Michigan to Benjamin and Clara (Schoff) Cauffman. She attended rural school in Buchanan, and has lived in this area all of her life. She was employed in the former Buchanan plants of Clark Equipment and Electro-Voice, and at the former Niles plant of Simplicity Pattern.
Dorothy enjoyed gardening, and had constructed the terraces in their backyard for that purpose. She also enjoyed completing crossword puzzles, but her greatest joy was caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
On June 26, 1953 in Buchanan she married Kenton L. “Ken” Fisher with whom she celebrated the Sixty-first anniversary of their wedding.
Surviving family includes her husband, Ken Fisher and their daughters, Martha Louise “Marti” (& Darrel) May of Saint Charles, Missouri and Kathleen Kay (& Denzel) Travis of Orland Park, Illinois; grandchildren Kenton Richard (& Val) Vondersaar and Jacob Benjamin May; great-grandchildren Nathan Vondersaar and Lucas Vondersaar; and many nieces and nephews.
