Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 7, at Our Saviors’ Lutheran Church with Rev. James Hanson officiating. Burial will be in Emanuel Cemetery near Fingal.
Karen Augusta Johnson was born February 12, 1882, in Norway. She came with her parents to the United States at the age of 18 settling in Valley City where she lived until her marriage to John Anderson December 20, 1904. The couple farmed in Norma Township near Fingal until 1927 when they retired and moved to Valley City. Mr. Anderson died in 1956.
She leaves four sons, Peter and Maurice, both of Valley City; Vernon of Minneapolis, and Walter of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; five daughters, Mrs. G. H. (Clara) Hovde, Mrs. Ruth Kent, Mrs. Arthur (Anna) Lahlum, and Mrs. Martha Anderson, all of Valley City, and Mrs. Gail (Borghild) Umphrey of Minneapolis; one sister Mrs. Peter (Mina) Nelson of Valley City; 32 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren. Besides here husband, one brother preceded her in death.
