Lucille "Penny" Warren (nee Lynam)

Passed away peacefully at the age of 85 in San Bruno on April 18th. Penny was the beloved wife of Charles Howard Warren Jr. (deceased); loving mother of Patricia (Tom) Ferrando, Charles (Kate) Howard Warren III, James (Toni) Francis Warren, Thomas G. Warren, Mary (Dan) Warren and William Edward Warren; proud grandmother of Joel, Brenna, Justin, Gabriel, Jordan, Travis, Jack (deceased), Joseph, Alexandria, Celia and Fiona; great-grandmother of Daniel Ferrando.

Penny was one of 11 children born to Edward J. and Mary O'Donnell Lynam in Omaha, NE.

She is survived by her brother, Francis (Marge) Lynam of Nebraska.

At the age of 18, Lucille left Omaha to pursue a singing career. Known as "Penny Lee" she performed with two headliner bands during the WWII years: Don Bestor and Joe Reichman. She played such venues as the Palmer House in Chicago and the Top of the Mark in San Francisco, traveling all over the U.S.

After her children were grown, she worked as a customer service rep for 20 years at Macy's in So.SF.

A resident of West Winston Manor in San Mateo County for 52 years, she and her husband Chuck helped to establish two parish communities, St. Thomas More in San Francisco and Mater Dolorosa in So.SF.

Penny was a devoted teacher of CCD classes at Mater Dolorosa for many years as well as a Eucharistic minister visiting and sharing her faith with patients at Kaiser Hospital. She had a special devotion to St. Therese of Lisieux the Little Flower.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Mary Brzostowicz for her many years of loyal and loving care for our mother, as well as the entire staff of the San Bruno Skilled Nursing Facility, who were Mom's guardian angels (and ours) for the past nine years.

Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Penny's name to St. Anthony's Padua Dining Room, 3500 Middlefield Rd. Menlo Park, CA. 94025, or to the Sisters of Mercy Retirement Fund, 2300 Adeline Dr., Burlingame CA 94010.
