Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Andrew was born June 13, 1918, to John and Clara (Schaub) Kirsch in White Lake, S.D. He attended school in Robey, S.D., and at the age of 18, he joined the Civilian Conservation Camp in Hot Springs for two years. He joined the U.S. Navy in February 1941 and retired in May 1961. From 1941 to 1950, he served at various duty stations at which time he met and married Lorene Romanick on May 20, 1950, and together had two children. Andrew served in World War II and the Korean War. He achieved rank of chief petty officer E-7 and was honorable discharged in May 1961. Following the Navy, he worked various jobs that included the North Dakota State Penitentiary and as an Industries Supervisor.
Andrew was a member of the Bismarck Elks Club, American Legion, VFW and Fleet Reserve Association. He enjoyed gardening, carpentry, bowling and delivering for Meals on Wheels for 18 years. He also enjoyed traveling throughout the states and spent seven winters in Arizona.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lorene, Bismarck; and one daughter, Denise, and one son, Jim, both of Bismarck.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brothers, Leo and Lawrence; and three sisters, Celestine, Margaret and Irene.
