DAVENPORT - James E. (Jim) Bell, of Davenport, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at Genesis East in Davenport, after an extended illness. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Private inurnment will be at Fairmount Cemetery at a later date. The Runge Mortuary, Davenport, is assisting the family with arrangements. Jim was born on February 26, 1930, in Davenport, to Myron and Clara (Petersen) Bell. He married Beverly Kay Nebrick on December 4, 1953, in Iowa City, Iowa. Jim owned and operated Bell's Janitorial for many years retiring in May. Jim enjoyed a good game of pool and especially showing others his talent of trick shots. Jim had a knack for making friends, having never met a stranger in his life. He was always available to lend a helping hand to the many acquaintances he met in life. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially sharing a snack or going for a walk with his dog Muffin. Those left to honor his memory include his wife of nearly 54 years, Beverly; children and spouses, Mike and Vicki Bell, Sheri Garcia, Wendy and Pat Dooley all of Davenport, and Kim Babeu of Waco, Texas; a stepdaughter and her husband, Kristi and Bob Eaton of Maquoketa, Iowa; sisters, Gloria Leander and JoAnn Carstens, 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren with 2 more expected. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Nancy and Terry for all their caring support during Jim's illness. Memorials may be made to the family. Katherine E. (Watts) Cooprider.
