George Isaac Adams was born December 13, 1867, in the state of Vermont and departed from this life January 20, 1945, at the age of 77 years, one month and seven days. He moved to Norton, Kansas, when a boy of seven years. He was adopted by Dr. Wilson at Norton and lived with him until 16 years of age when he went to Denver, Colorado, and cut ties for a living for a period of time. After this he moved to eastern Nebraska, where he met his wife Melinda Howard. They were united In holy wed lock December 25, 1900, at Burr, Nebraska, and to this union were born five children — four sons and one daughter. In 1917, he moved to western Nebraska, where be lived for 12 years, later moving to northeastern Colorado, where he made his home until taken to a hospital December 12, 1944. Mr. Adams had been in failing health the past two years. Last December it seemed advisable that he undergo an operation, from which he was recovering very nicely until he suffered a stroke Monday evening, January 15. Loving hands ministered to his needs, but due to his advanced age there was no chance of recovery. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife Mrs. Melinda Adams of Holyoke, Colo.; a daughter Mrs. Pat Lutz, of Haigler, Nebr.; four sons, Earl Adams of Holyoke, Colo.; Herbert Adams of Lamar, Nebr.; Paul Adams of Safford, Ariz.; and Richard Adams of the U. S. Army; besides 20 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. George will always be remembered as a kind and loving husband and father, and an honest and friendly neighbor. He will also be remembered as quite a sportsman in that he loved to hunt and fish. He was also a man of hard labor, having cut ties, done masonry, and also farmed at various times for a living. Funeral services ware held Monday afternoon January 22, at the Christian Church In Lamar, with the pastor Rev Eugene R. Palmer, officiating. Mrs. Irvin Johnson, Mrs. Alan Davison, Cordy Jones, and Ernest Cranwell sang, accompanied by Mrs. Glen Wilcox. Pallbearers were Carl Schultz, James Colson, George Ford, Harvey Lock, Lee Chandler, and M. D. Kunkel. Interment was in the Lamar cemetery with Luhrs Service of Imperial In charge.
