William Madison "Matt" Abbott of Eubank, Pulaski County, Kentucky, died at Veterans Administration Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of 79.

He was a member of the Eubank Baptist Church. He was a member of Woodstock Masonic Lodge F&AM and of the Ruritan Club of Eubank.

He was survived by his daughters, June Oca of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Jewell Runyan of Erlanger, Kentucky; his brothers, Milton Abbott of Greencastle, Indiana and Woodrow Abbott with the United States Air Force in Florida; his sisters, Lena Bogard of Florida, Opal Detro of Florida, Bessie Osborne of Florida, and Damie McGraw of Indiana; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas Abbott and Susan (Gastineau) Abbott; and his wife, Elsie Frances (Stevens) Abbott (married November 7, 1921).

Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 16, 1976 at the Eubank Baptist Church with Reverend Grady Baskin officiating.

Morris and Hislope Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
