In 1910 she and her parents and three siblings lived in a rear apartment on North Canal Street in Harrison Township, Allegheny County, PA. Her father worked as an engineer at a steel works.

In 1920 she and her parents and five siblings lived in a place they were renting on Kittanning Street in the same township. Her father worked as a laborer in a glass house and Claude as an electrician in a steel mill.

In 1930 she and her parents and her two younger sisters lived in a place they were renting for $25 a month at 112 East Ninth Avenue in Tarentum, PA. Her father worked as a machinist helper in a steel mill and she as a saleslady in a drug store.

In 1940 she and her husband and their son lived in an apartment they were renting for $21 a month at 118 Morgan Street in Brackenridge, PA. Joseph worked as a chipper in a steel mill, with an income in 1939 of $759 for 25 weeks of work.

In 1950 she and Joseph and their three children lived in a house on Burtner Road in Natrona Heights, PA. He worked as a railroad brakeman in a steel factory.
