Effie Lee Martin Abernathy age 96 of 381 N. Thomas Street, Stony Point, passed away Monday, December 2, 2013 at Gordon Hospice House. She was born March 19, 1917 in Alexander County, to the late Lee Stevenson Martin and Bessie Queen Deal Martin. She was retired from Flex Nit and latter a Self Employed Seamstress. She was a member of Stony Point Baptist Church and formerly a Sunday School Teacher.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her Son Jimmie Abernathy, one Brother Grady Martin, and one sister Pauline Childers.
She is survived by One son Billy Abernathy (wife Janis) of Stony Point, Two brothers Gorden Martin of Taylorsville, and J.D. Martin (wife Doris) of Cary, NC; Two sisters Ruby Goforth of Olin, NC and Edna Mae Overcash of Shelby, NC; Three Grandchildren Scotty Abernathy (wife Donna) of Stony Point, Heidi Myers of Statesville and Stephanie Dishman (husband Tim) of Hiddenite; Six Great Grandchildren, James Brian Abernathy, Jacob Abernathy, Jason Smith, Chris Smith, T.J. Dishman and Jessica Dishman; Two Great Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 pm Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Stony Point Baptist Church. Rev. Phil Addison, Rev. Rick Norman and Rev. Kenneth Childers will officiate. Burial will follow in the Stony Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 pm prior to the service.
