Dr. George K. Abbott, former president of the College of Medical Evangelists in Loma Linda, died yesterday morning at a Riverside rest home at the age of 79. He had been in failing health for the past three years. Dr. Abbott served as head of CME from 1907 to 1910 and from 1910 to 1914 he was the dean of the college's School of Medicine. Dr. Abbott also engaged in private practice in Covina and was medical director of the Glendale Sanitarium and Hospital. He was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeon and had resided in Riverside for the past eight years. Dr. Abbott is survived by three sons, Dr. Donald H. Abbott, Riverside, Merrill F., St. Helena, California, Richard E. A. of Carson City, Nevada and four grandchildren. Services are pending with Acheson & Graham Funeral Directors in Riverside with interment at Montecito Memorial Cemetery in San Bernardino.
