Esther Delzer died Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at Avera Eureka Health Care Center.

Esther A. Ackerman, daughter of Calvin and Katharina (Orth) Ackerman, was born Jan. 2, 1931, near Artas in Campbell County. She grew up in the Artas area and attended country school. She was employed as a clerk at Bentz Store in Artas for 19 years.

Esther was united in marriage to Alvin "Tuffy" E. Delzer on Nov. 23, 1968, in Greeley, Colo. They made their home in Eureka, where she was a homemaker for 12 years. Esther then began working in the dietary department at Eureka Community Hospital, where she worked for 19 years before retiring in 1999.

Esther was a member of Eureka Reformed Church. She loved cooking, baking, visiting friends and family and shopping trips to Aberdeen. Nothing was as important as spending time with her daughter, son-in-law and grandsons.

Esther is survived by her daughter, Heidi (Don) Heinrich; two grandchildren; and sister, Kathy Dahlin.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers: Alvin, Eugene, Reuben and Edwin Ackerman; and two sisters: Christina Bauer and Gertrude Ackerman.

Carlsen Funeral Home of Eureka has been entrusted with arrangements.
