Larry D. Abbott, the son of Roy Leon and Helen Elizabeth (Cass) Abbott, was born September 28, 1943, in Hamburg, Iowa. He attended Fairfax High School, Fairfax, Missouri, graduating in 1961. In the same year, Larry entered the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era.

On November 2, 1966, Larry was united in marriage to Diana Linville at the Rock Port Christian Church, Rock Port, Missouri. They made their home in Rock Port and became the parents of two children, Eric and Craig.

Larry was employed for 22 years at Missouri Beef Packers in Phelps City, Missouri, until the plant closed. He was then employed by Missouri Department of Transportation “MODOT,” retiring in 2006, as a crew leader. Larry passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015, surrounded by his family, at his home in Rock Port, at the age of 71.

Larry loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed hunting, fishing and being on the river. He was a member of the Midwest Hunting Dog Association, where he competed in field trials throughout the Midwest with his “Master Hunter” German Shorthaired Pointers.

Besides his parents, Larry was preceded in death by father-in-law, Everett Linville. Survivors include wife, Diana, of the home; sons, Eric Abbott and wife, Michelle, Rock Port, and Craig Abbott and wife, Melanie, Seward, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Garrett, Dalton Dean, Gavin and Gabriel; sister, Sharon Meyer and husband, Don, Rock Port; brother, Bill Abbott and wife, Sharon, Joplin, Missouri; mother-in-law, Jewell Linville, Rock Port; brother-in-law, Sam Linville, Excelsior Springs, Missouri; former sister-in-law, Melva Linville, Kansas City, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service: 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 27, 2015, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 P.M., Thursday, March 26, 2015, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Elmwood Cemetery, Rock Port.
