“A. Sam Acree, 73, postmaster at Minor for 47 years prior to his retirement, died Saturday at his home, Cherry Walk.

He had been a merchant at Minor for a number of years. He was a member of Bruington Baptist Church and a member of the Essex County Farm Bureau.

Mr. Acree is survived by his wife, Mrs. Woodley Broaddus Acree; two brothers, J.C. Acree of Minor and James L. Acree of Tappahannock; and three sisters, Misses Maxie, Mary and Sue Acree, all of Bruington.

A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mt Zion there.” Rappahannock Record, December 5, 1963
