TOPEKA—Gene "Toad" Tevis, Scranton, died June 12, 2015, at Topeka. He was 61.

He was born Oct. 10, 1953, El Paso, Texas, the son of Lee and Ira Taylor Tevis. He lived in Burlingame before moving to Scranton in 1990.

He graduated from Lyndon High School in 1971. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1974 to 1976.

He worked as a carpenter for many years and worked for Fieldstone Fruit Farm near Overbrook for the last 15 years. He attended the Carbondale Christian Church and was a member of the Boozefighters MC.

He married Vicki Hitt. They later divorced. He married Kristine Adams. They later divorced. He married Phyllis Haid. They later divorced.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Ira and a sister, Nancy Abel.

He is survived by three sons, Shaun Tevis and wife, Sara, Admire, Bradley Tevis and wife, Angela, Longmont, Calif., and Chris Hartzell and wife, Courtney, Auburn; three daughters, Carey Jordan and husband, Kelly, Topeka, Melissa Tevis, Osage City, and Sonya Whitmore, Burlingame; two brothers, Jimmie Tevis, Scranton and Bruce Tevis, Lyndon; a sister, Linda Tevis Osborn, Carbondale; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. June 21 at Mt. Pleasant Community Church, southeast of Lyndon. Burial with Navy honors will follow at Melvern Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. June 20 at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital or Colmery-O’Neil V.A. Hospital, and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
