Funeral services were conducted Sunday, December 23 at 1:30 pm from the McColley Funeral Chapel in Custer for Ethel Peterson Ackley, a life-time resident of this area, who passed away Thursday, December 20 (1973).
Rev. Beryl Melcher officiated and special musical selections were "Rock of Ages" and "Beyond the Sunset" with Josephine Sheets as soloist and Mary Cullum as organist.
Bearing the casket were Emmett Marty, Carl roetzel, Leo Harbach, Bert Bradeen, Marvin Bradeen, and Norman Borgen. All friends were considered honorary pallbearers. Interment was in the Custer Cemetery under the direction of McColley Funeral Home.
Ethel Peterson Ackley was born December 29, 1890 at Pringle and lived all her life in this area. she was united in marriage with Lyle "Shorty" Ackley on November 25, 1933 at Deadwood.
She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Royal Neighbors of America, VFW Auxiliary and the Custer Community Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, "Shorty" of Custer.

Ada Ethel was the daughter of Frank T. and Ada W. (Fenwick) Peterson.
Ethel was married to John Dave Trevithick on September 23, 1911, to L.C. Tinsley on May 7, 1930 in Fall River County, SD and then to Lyle Newton "Shorty" Ackley November 25, 1933.
