Mrs. Nora Nadine Hawks Acker, 84, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Monday, July 6, 2015 at Heardmont Nursing Home.

Mrs. Acker was born in Athens, Georgia to the late Odell Willis and Mattie Lou Epps Hawks. She was the widow of Mr. Joe Edwin Acker. Mrs. Acker worked as a supervisor at Dupont Company until her retirement. She was a member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Acker is survived by her children: Tom Acker and his wife, Duval, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Steve Acker, and Jane Crenshaw and her husband, Ronnie, all of Elberton. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Acker was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Hawks.

A service to celebrate Mrs. Acker’s life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home, with Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Visitation will be Friday evening, July 10, 2015 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at Hicks Funeral Home. Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Francis Asbury Methodist Church at 1016 Ruckersville Road, Elberton, Georgia.
