"Ackenhausen Dies. Had Lived in Leavenworth Half a Century. Mary Ackenhausen, widow of Fred Ackenhausen, died at her home, 520 Michigan Avenue, at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon following a lingering illness. Mrs. Ackenhausen had been ill for some time and her death was not unexpected. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, Rev. A.C. Dick of the Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
She was 70 years old. Mrs. Ackenhausen was born in Holstein, Germany, in 1846. She was reared in that place, and when a young lady 20 years old, she made the trip across the Atlantic to America. She came direct to Kansas and settled in Leavenworth. Shortly after her arrival here, she married Fred Ackenhausen, and Leavenworth has always been the home of the family. Mr. Ackenhausen died 25 years ago. She was the mother of seven children, Fred Ackenhausen of Yakima, Wash., W.A. Ackenhausen, Edward Ackenhausen and George Ackenhausen, all of Kansas City, Mo.; Edna Ackenhausen and Mamie Ackenhausen of this city, and Mrs. L. S. Case of Kansas City."
