James Gregory (Greg) Abell, 88, of Blacksburg, formerly of Washington, DC, and Maryland, passed away January 22, 2015.

Greg served two terms in the Military and came out as Master Sergeant.He is survived by two daughters; one son; two step children; and his best friend, Thelma Shelor at Warm Hearth Village where he lived for the last 20 years. Greg loved life and people, and loved to help others. He will be sadly missed by staff and residents at Warm Hearth and Blacksburg.Family and friends would like to thank the 2nd floor nursing staff at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery; the ICU staff at Lewis Gale Hospital-Pulaski; and the Pulaski Rehab Unit for taking good care of Greg for the last two and a half weeks. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Warm Hearth Foundation, 2603 Warm Hearth Drive, Blacksburg, VA 24060.There will be no visitation. A memorial service is being planned for Greg at a later date at Warm Hearth Activity Center. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
