Linda Kay Bowers, 64, of Bridgewater went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2015 at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg. She was a beloved daughter, wife, sister, mother, and grandmother.
Mrs. Bowers was born February 13, 1951 in Athens, TN, and was the daughter of Jean Teague Beavers and the late Horace Thomas Beavers. She received her Bachelor's degree from Tennessee Wesleyan College, her Master's degree in Education from Berry College and her Library Certification from the University of West Georgia. She was the librarian at Wilson Elementary School in Augusta County for the past 15 years, during which time she was recognized as the Librarian of the Year for Virginia.
On November 20, 1973, she married Stephen R. Bowers, who survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Laura E. Wyant & husband David, Ashland; a son, Stephen R. (Reed) Bowers II, Lynchburg; a brother, Harry Beavers & wife, Debbie, Etowah, TN; a grandson, Stephen R. Bowers III, Daisy Bowers, and a grandson on the way, 'Bert' Wyant.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 25 at 2 pm at Linden Heights Baptist Church in Staunton.
