Funeral Rites Held for "Dad" Adams, 90
Funeral services were held at the Banks funeral parlor for Franklyn Adams, better known as "Dad" Adams, who died of infirmities of old age, at the Mr. and Mrs. John Brolsma residence where he made his home. Burial was in Choteau cemetery.
Mr. Adams was born in Jackson county, Florida, in 1850, and was 90 years old at the time of his death. He left Florida when a young man and came to Minnesota with his mother to live. In Minnesota he married Miss Gene Ockerland, who preceded him in death some time ago. Three girls and two boys were born to this union, one of which, Harry E. Adams, of Singleshot, Glacier Park, was present at the funeral.
The following is written by Mrs. Brolsma:
The Passing of Dan Adams
The passing of a kindly old soul was the passing was that in the death of one of Choteau's oldest dads, the passing of Franklyn Adams, better known as "Dad" Adams.
Dad made his home for the last four years with Mr. and Mrs. John Brolsma, and passed away at their home. He was a lover of flowers and had in years gone by various kinds of which he had often taken first prize at the Choteau flower shows. Old age crept over him fast in the last few years making him feeble, and while he couldn't get about to enjoy life he would sit in his door and watch things grow.
Kindly by nature, considerate of others, and appreciative of any kindness, big or small, shown him, he enjoyed the autumn season best and had remarked it was God's paintings put here to show us how little we know. I want to take this way of thanking the folks who so kindly assisted at his death and burial.
