Lifelong Larsen Bay and Kodiak resident and our beloved and precious mother, Alberta E. Aga, peacefully passed away at the Kodiak Island Care Center on Nov. 5, 2011, with her children and family priest by her side.

Mrs. Aga was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Charles G. Aga, her mother Stella Carlson-Haugland, father Victor Carlson, brothers August Carlson, Frank Carlson and Victor Carlson, and her sister Matilda Anderson. She was 78 years old at the time of her death.

Following the death of her husband, Alberta continued to reside in Kodiak and later became a resident at the Kodiak Care Center. She always enjoyed company and visits from her family and friends, working on puzzles, crocheting, knitting socks for her family and friends, and taking long drives with her family. She loved family gatherings, picnics and just having her family all around her.

Mrs. Aga was a retiree from the state of Alaska, after working many hard years at the Little Red School House in Larsen Bay. She was also a voting/elections officer and fisherwoman for many years in Larsen Bay and enjoyed being outdoors. She loved children and assisted in raising many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved puppy dogs, flowers and plants and enjoyed attending church services.

Alberta was a devoted, loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a beautiful personality and strong faith in God. Her children were blessed to have her as their mother and they loved her very much. She will always be very special to all of her family. She is survived by her children Sheila Theriault of Anchorage, Diane Bent of Wasilla, Stella Aga of Kodiak, August Aga of Kodiak, Matilda Christiansen of Old Harbor, Ronda Turner of Eagle River, Brenda Hall of Kodiak, Roberta Patterson of Big Lake, and grandson Brad Aga of Kodiak, in addition to numerous grandchildren and great-grand children.

Our mom was the best cook and baker and made the best perok, fish patties, spaghetti, clam fritters and homemade bread. She will be deeply and forever missed by her family.

The memorial service will be officiated by Father Paisius of Saint Innocent's Academy at the Kodiak Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. Her family would like to thank the staff of the Kodiak Care Center for their care and compassion. Our mother was grateful for their assistance and became fond of many of the staff and caregivers there.

The Lord's Garden is Beautiful

(A poem for our mom)

God looked around his garden, and found an empty space.

He looked down upon the earth, and saw your tired face.

He put his arm's around you, and lifted you up to rest.

God's garden is beautiful, for he only takes the Best.

He knew that you were weary, and he knew you were in pain.

He knew that you would never be well on Earth again.

He saw the roads were getting rough and the hills were hard to climb.

So he closed your weary eyelids, and whispered peace be thing.
