Ivan was born Mar. 24, 1893 to James M. Abbott and Martha Ann Kelley Abbott Dawdy. Ivan, also spelled Ivon, was a Private in WWI with the US Army. He was injured in battle in 1918 and later died of his wounds on Dec. 10, 1918 in France. He was first buried in the Mount Huron Cemetery (Brit) in Le Treport, France; however, in 1921, his mother, Martha Dawdy, petitioned the War Department to transfer his body to his current burial location here in the US.
