Lydia was first married to A.D. Slye, on June 30, 1878, in Washington, Iowa. This was Alester D. Slye, who also went by the name Alester D. Thompson. When Alester died, his widow Stella Slye applied for his Civil War Pension, and his name is shown on the application as Alester D. Thompson aka Alester D. Slye. He is shown in the Iowa Cemetery Records as Jeser Slye but is buried under the name of Thompson.

Stella was remarried to Patrick McHugh on September 26, 1894, in Ottumwa.

Obituary From Ottumwa Daily Courier, June 26, 1939:

Mrs. Lydia Ann Noe, 88, of 717 South Sheridan avenue, died today at 3:15 a.m. at the Bollinger Nursing home here. She had lived in Ottumwa 53 years.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Noe; two sons, Joe Slye and Asa Slye of Ottumwa, and two stepsons, George and Lanny Noe of Kirksville, Mo.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Carroll Reece funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Albin. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery.
