David O. Abalos Jr. 46, a resident of Albuquerque, formerly of Silver City, entered into eternal life Sunday, July 23, in Albuquerque. Visitation and viewing will begin at 6 in the evening Thursday, July 27 at Baca's Funeral Chapels, followed at 7 by the prayer vigil celebrated by Deacon Jeremiah Bustillos. Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 in the morning Friday, July 28, at the St. Vincent de Paul CYO Parish Hall, with Father Rod Nichols officiating. The rite of committal and interment will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Abalos was born July 1,1960, in Silver City to David Abalos and Margaret Olivas. He attended St. Mary's Academy and a graduate of the Silver High Class of 1979. He was very active in baseball, football and wrestling, and was an avid and loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed traveling, camping, going to the casinos, and especially dancing, but most of all he loved to spend time with his brother, his sisters, his nieces and his nephews. Mr. Abalos is survived by his stepfather and his mother, Bill and Margaret (Olivas) Snowberger of Albuquerque; his daughter, Michelle Alvarado of Bayard; his brother Robert Abalos of Albuquerque; his sisters, Virginia Bustillos and her husband, Jeremiah, of Silver City, Delia Sherman, also of Silver City, Sally and Ernestina Abalos of Albuquerque, and Isabel Gonzales of Rio Rancho. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, David Abalos, and his brothers, Reynaldo and Steve Abalos. Casket bearers will be Robert Abalos, Mark Lopez, Nathan Sherman, Reggie Castillo, Eddie Bustillos and Chris Purcker.
