Harold Vinson Abbott, 90, left his earthly home to be with his Lord, on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Crystal Coast Hospice Center, in Newport.
A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors. Chaplain Raymond McPherson will be officiating.
Harold was born in Columbia, SC and was the son of the late John and Marion Smith Abbott. He served his country honorably with the United States Marine Corps during WWII, Korea and Vietnam and retired with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. He was a 60 year member of the Masonic Semper Fi Lodge, as well as a member of the Silver Star #225.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lemerle Jackson Abbott o the home they shared since 1961.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, Lemerle requests a donation to either the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 950 West Faris Rd. Greenville, SC 29605 · 864-271-3444 or the Onslow Assembly #42 of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls of North Carolina in Harold’s name.
