Barbara J. Abel, 69, of Bedford died at 5:25 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born June 8, 1946, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Robert and Dorothy Godsey Hall, both of whom preceded her in death. On July 30, 1966, she married Max Abel, who survives.
Barbara was a homemaker and member of House of Prayer Pentecostal Church. She and Max had a ministry at Stonebridge Health Campus for many years.
Other survivors include her daughter, Theresa Abel of Mitchell; two sons, Bryan (Carla) Abel of Medora and Matthew Abel of Bedford; five grandchildren, Jered Abel, Jordan Abel, Bricyn Abel, Brandyn Abel and Jessica Abel; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Abel of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Hall.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Elmwood Chapel of Day and Carter Mortuary in Bedford with Brother Alan Phillips and Pastor Dennis Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Byers-Rainbolt Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
