Al was born in Blaine County, Montana on August 28, 1903, to Charles and Maggie Acher. As the fourth child, Al had one sister, Daisy, and two brothers that he ranched with, Ivor and Bud.
Al married Juliette Tilleman on April 16, 1941. Al and Juliette farmed and raised Angus cattle in the valley east of Chinook until they retired in 1972. Upon retirement they moved into Chinook. Al helped out at Tillemans Meats uptown from time to time when he was needed.
Al and Juliette raised their one daughter, (Judy(Chapman) and enjoyed their grandchildren. In Al's later years, he also enjoyed seven great grandchildren.
Al enjoyed playing his fiddle for the family, throwing horseshoes and playing cards with friends and neighbors. Al played in the Senior Citizens Kitchen Band which traveled the Hi-Line.
Al is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Juliette. Also, daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Francis Chapman of Chinook, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Karla and Kevin, Kyle, Kraig, Kelsey (Willman) of Pendleton, Oregon; Candace and Phillip, Brent, Brandon (Baker) of Redmond, Washington; Curtis Al and Connie, Brian, Mathew (Chapman) of Chinook.
Al passed away on September 5, 1992 at the Northern Montana Hospital in Havre. Al was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brothers and one grandchild, Karen Marie Chapman.
Burial followed in the Kuper Memorial Cemetery.
