Robert was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Coast Guard. He graduated from Houghton High School, attended Michigan Technology University, the University of Illinois, and graduated from the Worsham College of Mortuary Science. He had been employed in Saginaw before moving to Escanaba. He was a member of St. Anne's Church, a member and former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Highland Golf Club. He was also a past president of the Escanaba Planning Commission and member of the Saginaw Big Brothers Organization.
Mr. Abb is survived by his wife, the former Louise Roberge, two daughters, Mrs. Ray (Linda) Bergeson, Peshtigo, Wis., and Mary Beth Abb, of Escanaba. He also leaves behind a granddaughter and two brothers; Leo Abb of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, and Paul Abb of Houghton.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home. Liturgical prayers will be at 8:30 p.m. Friday at St. Anne's Church. Entombment will be in the Gardens of Rest Mausoleum, Wells, Michigan.
