Laura Jean Ables Thrasher, 88, wife of the late Hubert A.C. Thrasher, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at her residence.
A native of Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late John B. and Olive Barker Ables. Mrs. Thrasher was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she previously served in the WMU, Teacher for Med. Adult # IV S.S. Class, and a former Trustee.
Survivors include sons, Ken Thrasher (Betty) of Myrtle Beach, Mike Thrasher (Mickie) of Oakway and Larry Thrasher (Sue) of Tamassee; sister, Gladys Bell of Auburn, CA; 4 granddaughters, Trenia Caron, Maria Floyd, Leslie Thrasher, and Amy Bratcher; 6 greatgrandchildren, Monica Fairley, Patrick Caron, Sara H. Floyd, Emily Floyd, and Noah Locklear, Levi Bratcher; and 1 great greatgrandchild, Ransome Fairley.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by brothers, Bill, Ken, and J.B. Ables; sisters Frances Harbin, Glenna Nickols, Mary Lou McClane, Pat Gaines, and Nettie Harbin.
A funeral service will be at 3:00 PM, Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Bethel Baptist Church, with visitation prior to the service from 2-3 PM at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is at the residences. In lieu of flowers memorial maybe made to Hands of Mercy Hospice, 111 Carter Park Drive, Seneca 29678or Golden Corner Food Bank 635 Business Park Drive Seneca, SC 29678.
