Earl Alex Balluta, 57, passed away of natural causes on Dec. 29, 2015, in Nondalton, Alaska.

Earl, a lifelong Alaskan, was born on June 28, 1958, in Anchorage.

Earl was a jack of all trades and held employment as a carpenter, fisherman and crew boss for the Nondalton Wildland Firefighters.

He was a very kind person and loved helping anyone who needed it. His family writes, "He was a beloved father, husband, son, brother and uncle to all his family. He was a community volunteer in Nondalton, and the surrounding villages. He was an all-around great guy!"

Earl was also a proud U.S. Marine veteran, entering the service on March 27, 1979, as a Marine Pfc. He was promoted to his present rank while serving with his 1st Marine Division, Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton in California.

Earl is survived by his wife, Darcelle Balluta; daughters, Alexa, Velma, Shania, Katra and Shani Balluta; sisters, Cecelia Balluta, Alice Trefon, Norma Turner and Sophie Vasik; brother, Gabriel Carl Balluta; mother, Vera McLendon; sister-in-law, Jennifer Clark; brothers-in-law, Jason Turner and Ralph Balluta; godchildren, Crystal Trefon and Jalen Smith; Harold Wilson and many nieces and nephews.

Earl is preceded in death by his father, Alex Balluta and son-in-law, Dennis Trefon.

A visitation will take place on Dec. 31, 2015, at 9 a.m. in Nondalton, Alaska. Services will take place at 2 p.m. with Father Michael Trefon officiating. Pallbearers include Gabriel Carl Balluta, Ralph Balluta, Justin Balluta, Andy Balluta, Marvin Balluta and Jesse Lynch. Honorary Harold Wilson.

Earl will be laid to rest at Nondalton Cemetery.
