Mrs. Abernathy, retired from Burlington Industries, was a Gaston County native, daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Barnette McAllister. She was the widow of Lawson Abernathy.
Survivors are her daughters, Mrs. Norma Gibson of Gastonia, Mrs. Ellen Huskins of Mount Holly, Mrs. Willene Killian; sisters, Mrs. Ethel Beam of Cherryville, Mrs. Viola Paysour of Ranlo; 14 grandchildren; 21 great- grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Community Baptist Church, N.C. 275, Dallas, N.C. 28034; or Stanley Total Living Center, 514 Old Mount Holly Road, Stanley, N.C. 28164.
The family will be at the home of Ellen Huskins, 2205 Stanley-Lucia Rd.
