Marilyn M. Attungowruk, age 47, resident of Barrow, Alaska, passed away unexpectedly after a gradual decline in health on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. - 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, where friends and family will be received from at the Anchorage Funeral Home, 1800 Dare Ave. in Anchorage, Alaska.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, at Barrow Presbyterian Church, with her graveside to follow at the Barrow Cemetery.

Marilyn was born on Sept. 27, 1968, and has been a lifelong resident of Barrow, but was raised in Point Lay, Alaska.

A woman of many talents and abilities, she worked with NSB Health Department as a CHA and a Tribal Doctor from 1985 to 1994. Marilyn was also a devoted member of the Episcopal and Presbyterian Church. In addition, she was an active participant of Cully and ASRC as a corporation shareholder, and a member of the Native Village of Point Lay.

Marilyn enjoyed many things like sewing, whether animal hide or material, singing, Eskimo dancing and beadwork, but she especially enjoyed being a homemaker for her family.

"She has touched many relatives, friends and people with her kind heart of giving and sharing with her traditional gathering of food and giving to those in need.

She loved her five sons: Mike Quiwak, Matthew Qiayuk, Bill Ahvaiyak, Thomas Maasak and Leo Aglak. She raised them with the help of her life-long companion, Charles Maasak Brower. She will be missed by many far and near, God bless you Marilyn."

Marilyn was preceded in death by her mother, Marie (Sielak) Junkeit; sister, Martha Sielak; grandparents, Leo and Martha Attungowruk and Willie and Ruth Sielak; aunties, Beverly Sielak and Marjorie Akpik; and uncles, Clyde, Jimmy and Stanley Sielak.

She is survived by her sons, Mike Qiuwak, Matthew Qiayuk, Bill Ahvaiyak and Thomas, Maasak and Leo Aglak all of Barrow; companion, Charles Maasak Brower of Barrow; father, Allen Attungowruk of Anchorage, Alaska; mother-in-law, Mary Brower of Barrow; sister, Estherina (Sielak) Lindgren of Kenai, Alaska; brothers, Fred "Bucky" of Barrow, Joby Stone (adopted) of Point Hope, Alaska, and Allen Jr. and Sailaq of Point Lay; aunties, Ione Bishop, Amy Attungowruk and Jane Agnasagga all of Anchorage; and uncles, Walter Toorak and Carlie Attungowruk both of Anchorage.
