BODY OF CORPSE WAS
FOUND LAST SUNDAY
NORTH OF WRAY

(Article indicates he probably died in September 1922. May be about 25 years of age.)

The body of a corpse was found last Sunday morning lying face down on the ground about a mile north of town. The discovery was made by George Maag's two small boys who had driven some cattle out that way. As soon as the boys made the discovery they came to town and notified their father, who drove out to verify their report. Finding the body as they had reported, Mr. Maag came back to town and notified Sheriff Hitchcock, who also made an investigation. Deputy County Coroner Thomas was notified and took charge of the case. Mr. Thomas summoned a jury and an inquest was held. They body was that of a man, apparently about 25 years of age. Death had evidently occurred several weeks ago, as the body was in an advanced stage of putrefaction. There were no identification marks to be found upon the body. The initials "L. A." were found upon a belt buckle, and the initials, "L.T.A.," were found on a collar in a pocket of the dead man's clothing. A bottle of carbolic acid was found beside the body. The coroner's jury found that the man came to his death from causes unknown. The body was prepared for burial and burial was made in the Grandview cemetery Monday morning. Although nothing definite is known as to how the man came to his death, suicide is the most plausible theory. He was apparently a stranger in this section of the country. Local authorities have rather meager clues upon which to work in an effort to find out who the stranger was and how he came to his death.
